Hundreds of exhibitors and aspiring entrepreneurs were left highly motivated today, 17/04/2015, at the first day of the Inner/Outer West Regional Durban Business Fair in Hammarsdale Junction.
This comes after an inspirational address by Durban business women Shauwn Mpisane of Zikhulise Group who offered budding entrepreneurs ideas how to run successful and effective businesses.
“Passion is key to every business, to choose your path in life you must love what you do. It is not wise to do many things at once but rather focus on what you love and develop it first before proceeding to other business interest,” said Mpisane.
She made an example that she first started with construction until she was certain that it is doing well before adding security personnel, mining and a soccer team to the Zikhulise Group.
However Mpisane warned the entrepreneurs that it has not been smooth sailing as she has had her fair share of downfalls in business.
“My failures were not the end of my businesses but they were a lesson that helped me to be where I am today. Therefore I urge you to never give up but treat every downfall as a learning curve,” added Mpisane.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Nomvuzo Shabalala, who also chairs the City's Economic Development and Planning Committee, said she was pleased with the high number of attendees at the Business Indaba during the Fair which proves that local entrepreneurs are eager to grow their business.
“We are faced with crisis of poverty and shortage of employment therefore it is wise to support our own in order to grow the City’s economy, create jobs and alleviate poverty. Our local entrepreneurs are very good, we must have faith in them and support them so that they will own sustainable businesses,” added Shabalala.
Emerging businesspeople are encouraged to also come out in numbers tomorrow, 18/04/2015 as there will also be an informative keynote address from an experienced entrepreneur Ernest Ngubo of Igoda Project.
Department of Trade and Industry will also be on site to present their available financial incentives to co-operatives and small business who are interested in trading internationally.
The exhibition and business seminar are open to public until Sunday,19/04/2015 from 8h00-17h00.
