ETHEKWINI HONOURS HIGH-PERFORMING WORKFORCE DRIVING SERVICE EXCELLENCE FORWARD
EThekwini Municipality honoured hardworking employees who are the driving force behind improved service delivery in the City.
The Employee Service Excellence Awards, hosted today, 5 June at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, marked a significant milestone in strengthening a culture of performance, accountability, and service excellence across the Municipality.
The awards aim to recognise, reward, and motivate employees who consistently go above and beyond to serve communities with excellence.
The ceremony celebrated the dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment of employees who play a critical role in delivering essential services to residents.
By recognising outstanding performance, the Municipality is actively reinforcing behaviours that directly translate into improved efficiency, responsiveness, and quality of services experienced by communities.
Employees across more than 25 categories, from frontline service delivery to leadership and innovation, were honoured for their role in driving impactful change and enhancing the City’s service offering.
EThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba emphasised the direct link between employee excellence and improved service delivery outcomes in communities.
“These awards are a strategic investment in building a capable and responsive Municipality. When we recognise and reward excellence, we are strengthening a culture where employees are motivated to deliver services efficiently, ethically, and with care,” he said.
He added that the initiative translates into faster turnaround times, improved customer experience, and greater trust between the Municipality and residents. “Our goal is to ensure that every resident experiences the positive impact of a committed and high-performing workforce,” said Mayor Xaba.
Mayor Xaba highlighted that a capable, motivated workforce remains central to achieving the vision of a customer-centric City, noting that employees are the drivers of service delivery transformation and sustainable development.
Winners across various categories expressed their gratitude, saying the recognition inspires them to raise performance standards and deliver services that meaningfully improve the lives of residents.
They emphasised that the awards serve as motivation to innovate, respond faster to community needs, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
