ETHEKWINI LAUNCHES PROGRAMME TO FORMALISE HAIR AND BEAUTY INDUSTRY
EThekwini Municipality invites members of the media to attend the official launch of the Hair and Beauty Salon Businesses Registration Programme.
The launch will be held tomorrow, 25 June, at uMlazi V-Section under the theme “Compliance Support and Registration.”
This initiative represents a major step towards professionalising and formalising the hair and beauty sector.
It seeks to ensure that salons operate legally, safely, and hygienically, while fostering business growth and development.
The programme will establish a comprehensive database to assist salon owners with compliance requirements, enhance public health and consumer protection, and strengthen business practices.
This database will also serve as a foundation for unlocking future development opportunities within the industry.
During the launch, stakeholders will receive information on registration processes, licensing requirements, applicable legislation, turnaround times, and available support mechanisms.
Onsite registration of businesses will also take place.
