MEDIA INVITATION

CHAIRPERSON OF HUMAN SETTLEMENTS, ENGINEERING AND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT OVERSIGHT VISIT ON COMMENCEMENT OF DR PIXLEY KAISAKA SEME STREET REHABILITATION PROJECT

Members of the media are invited to attend an oversight visit by the Chairperson of the eThekwini Municipality Human Settlements, Engineering and Transport Committee, Councillor Themba Mvubu, on the commencement of rehabilitation works on Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street in the Durban CBD.

The rehabilitation forms part of eThekwini Municipality's Inner-City Road Rehabilitation Programme, a strategic infrastructure investment initiative aimed at restoring and modernising critical road infrastructure within Durban's central business district.

Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street is one of the busiest and most important routes in the CBD, carrying high volumes of private vehicles, public transport, and pedestrian movement daily.

The project is expected to improve road safety, traffic flow, and accessibility while extending the lifespan of the road infrastructure.

The Councillor Mvubu will also unpack the Municipality’s scheduled rehabilitation works on Margaret Mncadi Avenue to commence during this month of June 2026, further expanding the programme's reach to another key transport and business corridor within the city centre.

The details of the oversight visit are as follows:

Date: Thursday, 4 June 2026

Time: 19h30

Venue: Dr Pixley kaIsaka Seme Street, Durban CBD
