NEW ‘DIGITALLY YOU’ JOB PORTAL TO TRANSFORM E-RECRUITMENT IN ETHEKWINI
EThekwini Municipality reaffirms its commitment to delivering a smarter, faster, and more reliable digital recruitment experience as the City moves closer to unveiling its new e-recruitment platform, Digitally You.
The platform is designed to modernise how applicants access employment opportunities.
Digitising Human Resources processes is a key performance imperative.
By replacing outdated, paper-heavy systems with Digitally You-a secure, mobile-friendly gateway-the Municipality will speed up turnaround times, strengthen transparency, and provide every applicant with a fair and seamless path into municipal service.
To make way for this upgrade, the Municipality paused the old recruitment system late last year, sparking strong public anticipation for a platform built around ease of use, transparency, and efficiency.
Although the Digitally You portal was initially scheduled to go live in February, technical teams are currently finalising refinements and conducting stability checks to ensure the system operates smoothly and reliably from day one.
The teams are focusing on refining, testing, and perfecting the platform so that applicants enter an accessible, transparent, and efficient portal, not a work in progress.
Director of Human Resources Sihle Mkhize expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and continued interest in the new platform, noting that the final preparations are being undertaken with the applicant’s experience firmly in mind.
“We are aware that residents were eagerly awaiting the 1 February go-live, and we value every query, message, and expectation shared with us. Every hour spent stabilising the platform protects applications from glitches and ensures a better experience for users,” he said.
Mkhize assured the public that recruitment has continued throughout the transition and that all applications are being processed through interim channels.
“When the Digitally You platform goes live, it will open with excellence and will be smart and fair. It will ready for everyone,” said Mkhize.
Vacancies continue to be advertised, and applications are currently received through the dedicated email addresses listed on each advert, ensuring that no candidate is disadvantaged during the transition.
An easy-access link on the e-recruitment landing page allows jobseekers to view current vacancies in one place while final testing of the system is completed.
This Human Resources transformation into a fully digital recruitment ecosystem represents one of the City’s key modernisation milestones.
The temporary delay helps secure long-term benefits by preventing early system failures and ensuring that all performance, stability, and usability checks are completed responsibly before deployment.
Once testing is concluded, the Municipality will provide guidance to help applicants navigate and make the most of the upgraded platform.
In the meantime, jobseekers are encouraged to continue applying through the email addresses provided in each advertisement and to follow official municipal communication channels for updates.
The City remains committed to offering an error-free, reliable, and transparent platform, one that represents the future of public service recruitment and embodies the promise of digital transformation.
