OPERATION GOOD HOPE NOMINATED FOR PREMIER’S SERVICE EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The Supply Chain and Area-Based Operations Directorate has been nominated for the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards 2024/25 under the category Best Public Service Implemented Programme or Project.

The shortlisted initiative, Operation Good Hope, is a multidisciplinary joint operation aimed at enhancing the quality of Municipal services through an integrated and collaborative approach to service delivery.

The Best Public Service Implemented Programme or Project of the Year category recognises initiatives that demonstrate significant improvements in service delivery, workflow efficiencies, innovation, and measurable socio-economic impact.

Operation Good Hope embodies these criteria by delivering coordinated, practical solutions through multi-directorate collaboration and active stakeholder engagement.

Supply Chain and Area-Based Operations Directorate Director, Linda Mbonambi said the shortlisting reflects the power of collaborative governance.

“The shortlisting of Operation Good Hope is an exhilarating moment for the Directorate and the City. It demonstrates what can be achieved when directorates work together, place communities at the centre of service delivery, and remain committed to the Batho Pele principles,” said Mbonambi.

Operation Good Hope brings together multiple Municipal directorates and agencies to address critical service delivery challenges.

These include road and stormwater maintenance, street lighting repairs, waste management, environmental health inspections, by-law enforcement, and business compliance.

The shortlisting acknowledges the programme’s positive impact on service delivery, its excellence in implementing Batho Pele principles, alignment with government priorities, strong interdepartmental, business and community collaboration, as well as innovation and creativity in addressing complex service delivery challenges.

The Directorate extends its sincere appreciation to all Municipal directorates, operational teams, project leaders, enforcement officers, and stakeholders for their continued support and contribution to the success of the programme.
