PLANNED SHUTDOWN OF THE SOUTHERN AQUEDUCT
Residents and businesses are advised of an interruption to the water supply in areas served by the Southern Aqueduct on Tuesday, 24 March.
The shutdown will commence at 7AM on Tuesday, 24 March and continue until 7AM on Wednesday, 25 March.
The Water Services Directorate will undertake a planned shutdown of bulk infrastructure on the Southern Aqueduct pipeline.
This will enable contractors to carry out preparatory work for the Southern Aqueduct upgrade project.
The shutdown will also allow for scouring of sections of the aqueduct, facilitating planned work between the existing and new pipelines as part of the upgrade.
Reservoir levels will be closely monitored during this period.
Depending on demand, and if levels drop significantly, reservoir outlets may be temporarily closed to preserve storage and reduce recovery time.
