PROGRESS UPDATE: DURBAN DRIVE-IN TEMPORARY REPATRIATION SITE NEARS CLOSURE
EThekwini Municipality wishes to provide an update on the ongoing relocation process at the temporary Durban Drive-In repatriation site, where undocumented Malawian nationals are being transported to a temporary facility in Musina, Limpopo.
As the operation enters its final phase, the main marquee at the site has now been dismantled, while other temporary structures are currently being taken down.
Essential service tents will remain in place until the repatriation process is completed later today or, at the latest, tomorrow morning.
The Municipality is preparing to decommission and close the temporary site once all remaining individuals have been transported.
Buses continue to arrive, load passengers, and depart for Musina at regular intervals as the coordinated repatriation operation nears completion.
EThekwini Municipality remains committed to supporting national government in ensuring that the repatriation process is carried out in a safe, dignified, and orderly manner.
