ETHEKWINI NEWSFLASH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICES TO CONTINUE AS NORMAL DURING THE EASTER PERIOD

EThekwini Municipality wishes to inform residents that refuse collection services will continue as scheduled throughout the Easter period, including all upcoming public holidays.

Residents are advised to place their black refuse bags and blue garden refuse bags on the verge on the morning of their normal collection days to ensure uninterrupted service.

However, please note that orange recycling bags will not be collected on public holidays.

This applies to areas scheduled for recycling collection on the following dates:

• Good Friday: 3 April 2026

• Easter Monday: 6 April 2026

• Freedom Day: 27 April 2026

• Workers’ Day: 1 May 2026

Residents are requested to retain their recyclables during these dates and place them out for collection on the next scheduled collection day that does not fall on a public holiday.

The City further encourages residents and visitors to contribute to a clean and litter-free Easter period by practicing responsible waste management.

This includes avoiding illegal dumping and littering and ensuring that refuse is only placed out on designated collection days.

Residents are also urged to make use of street litter bins strategically placed throughout the City.

The Municipality calls on all residents to take a firm stand against littering and illegal dumping.

Offenders found disposing of waste unlawfully in open spaces will be fined and held responsible for the removal of such waste.
